The single-piece ring is a conventional. The Double-coned or triple-coned synchronizer has more frictional interfaces. In addition to the extra interfaces, it can increase more friction force; the triple-coned synchronizer can produce greater synchronizing power than a single synchronizer.The multi-coned ring-set usually has 3 parts: the outer balk ring, synchronizer cone, and inner friction ring. Because of the synchronizer cone they have more frictional interfaces. Due to the increased friction force cone, it can produce more synchronizing power than single balking rings.
